Our excellence

We have several newspapers that can be traced to the Civil War era. We started several others from scratch as our communities began to grow in the 1970s, ‘80s and ‘90s. They routinely win awards of excellence from organizations like the Minnesota Newspaper Association.
We’re in one of the best markets in the country
Southwest Newspapers serves Chanhassen, Chaska, Eden Prairie, Jordan, Prior Lake, Savage and Shakopee. They have some of the best school districts in the Twin Cities area, and several of these communities have made Money magazine’s annual lists of the best places in America to live.

Although we’re a small company, our portfolio of publications, products and services in this ever-changing media market is large and growing all the time. Southwest is a division of Red Wing Publishing, a small, family-owned operation that has strong roots in award-winning community journalism. Our focus is local news and information, which gets us face-to-face with the people who live in our communities.
